International Game Technology (NYSE:IGT) has decided to enter internet casinos and sports wagering industries by creating a dedicated iGaming and sports betting unit.
International Game Technology is a company based in London, UK. The company’s iGaming and sports wagering enterprises were previously part of its global gaming segment. Now, as the company has decided to expand its global influence, IGT hired Enrico Drago as the new chief executive officer of the new digital and betting outfit. He will report directly to IGT CEO Marco Sala.
The company stated:
“As a result, beginning with the third quarter of the fiscal year 2021, IGT will report results under three business segments: Global Lottery, Global Gaming, and Digital & Betting.”
CEO Sala said in the statement:
“These businesses have become strategically important to IGT as they afford us the opportunity to leverage the global reach and strong customer relationships of our Global Gaming segment. The new structure gives us more flexibility in our product and solutions portfolio and enables a better appreciation of the intrinsic value of these activities.”
IGT is well known as a reliable slot machine developer. The company also provides back-end services and solutions for lotteries and sportsbooks all around the globe.
