Robyn Camden lived up to 3-5 favoritism in the first Open of the season at Saratoga Casino Hotel, beating four competitors in the $11,000 Fillies and Mares Open on Wednesday (March 3).

The Art Professor’s six-year-old daughter was the last to leave and sat patiently as Bontz N (Billy Dobson) rated a:58.3 first half. Long shot nearing the half, Pammy Jo (Shawn Gray) surged first-over, and Jay Randall angled Robyn Camden into the outer flow to work into contention. Royal Camden shifted gears as Pammy Jo approached three-quarters in 1:26.3, bypassing Pammy in the stretch before edging away to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:55.2. Pammy Jo finished a strong second, while Racine Bell (Brian Cross) finished third after escaped traffic trouble.

Rob Harmon trains Robyn Camden, a 31-time winner in 67 lifetime starts for owner Jason O’Sullivan of Dublin, Ireland. To win, she had to pay $3.50.

Harmon and Randall also won with Mamama Moonshine, a pacing mare who won in 1:57.2 in a $7,200 conditioned event at Saratoga.

Saratoga will restart live racing on Monday afternoon (March 7), with the first post scheduled for 12 noon.
