Yesterday, Canada’s newest lottery millionaire was unveiled. Ginno Torres, 29, is the second winner of the CA$70 million Lotto Max jackpot, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Mr. Torres of Toronto shared the major prize of CA$35 million from the June 22 draw with a British Columbia ticket holder.
Lotto Max is the most rewarding and popular draw-based game in Canada, according to many people. Lottery players win hundreds of millions of dollars every year while playing the game of luck. Because there are draws on Tuesdays and Fridays, people have two opportunities per week to win the major Lotto Max jackpot as well as other cash prizes.
Toronto Winner
Mr. Torres has been drawn as one of the main prize winners in the game’s June 22 draw, but he managed to keep it a secret until he received his check from the Crown agency. The winner, who is also a recent college graduate, said that he wanted to first acquire the prize before sharing it with his friends and family.
The winner claimed that he went to a local store in his neighborhood a few days after the draw to check his ticket and assumed he had won CA$35,000. However, after double-checking at the next store, he discovered that the sum was CA$35,000,000. He shared that back then his stomach was in knots and by going to another store to validate the ticket, the winning bell went off.
In addition, the winner revealed some of his plans for how he wants to use the major prize. He claimed that he will be financially helping his family and that he intends to make some long-term investments. He also plans to donate part of the money to charity, redesign his home, and travel around the country and the world once it is safe to do so.
The Other Winner
In British Columbia, the other half of the huge CA$70 million Lotto Max prize was won. The winner is Gary Hill, a semi-retired truck driver from Kamloops, BC. Mr. Hill claimed the impressive sum of CA$35 million after arriving at a BCLC office, and while he said that he is unsure how he will spend the major winning, he assured that he will find a good use for it.
Maxmillion Prize
Ha Nguyen, a lottery player from Vancouver, is one of the most recent winners of the Lotto Max game. The lucky ticket holder has been drawn as the winner of a CA$1 million Maxmillion prize. Ms. Nguyen hopes to use the money from the life-changing prize to buy a new condo and care for her children.
